Allow 20 mins prep time and 30 - 40 mins cooking time


For the crumble:


  • 300g of plain flour

  • Cube 200g of unsalted butter at room temperature

  • 175g unrefined brown sugar

  • Use some additional butter to grease the tin




  • 450g of Bramley apples.  Peel these and cut into small bits

  • 1 pinch of ground cinnamon

  • 50g unrefined brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon of plain flour

Pre- heat your oven to Gas 4/180C/350F


Making the Crumble:


  • Put  the flour and sugar in a large bowl and mix well. Pop a couple of cubes of butter into the mix at a time – keep kneading and rubbing together until the mixture looks like breadcrumbs.


Making the Filling:


  • Place the cubed Bramley Apples in a bowl and sprinkle over the cinnamon, sugar and flour. Make sure all the fruit is covered by stirring the mixture


  • Grease (using butter) an ovenproof dish (Aprox 24cm), spoon the mixture into the bottom of the dish, then sprinkle the crumble mixture over the top.






Bake in the oven for approximately 45 minutes until the layer of crumble has browned and the apples are bubbling. Just add custard or ice cream

Serves 4

Strawberry and Almond Crumble



Hull the strawberries and put them in a pie dish and then sprinkle the caster sugar over the strawberries. Now add the vanilla extract along with almonds and mix them together.




Put the baking powder and flour to a mixing bowl and rub the cold diced butter in using your fingers. This should end up looking like breadcrumbs. Once you have the breadcrumbs pour in the flaked almonds and the demerara sugar and mix them into the......mix.


Strawberry and Almond Crumble:


Spoon the crumble mixture evenly on top of the strawberries making sure you have an even spread across the top.


Bake the crumble in the preheated oven for between 30 and 40 minutes until the topping is slightly crisp and browned you should be avle to see the strawberries bubbling at the edges.


Now grab some cream, ice cream or custard and a spoon! You know what to do now!

  • 50 grams of Caster Sugar

  • 500 grams of Strawberries

  • 4 tea spoons of vanilla extract

  • 25 grams grown almonds




  • 100 grams flaked almonds

  • 1 table spoon of baking powder

  • 75 grams demerara sugar

  • 110 grams plain flour

  • 75 grams of diced cold butter
